Solution To Your Stressed Skin
Posted on August 28, 2018
Life. Is. Stressful. It takes a toll on our bodies both physically and mentally. When our body recognizes stress, it releases cortisol, one of our many hormones. When it’s released, there are many effects, such as dry, wrinkled, or oily skin, acne, or the accumulation of fat. These symptoms lead to stress being visible on the outside. It’s important to take care of yourself! There’s no easy way around stress, but we can at least try our best to avoid the negative effects. Try these five suggestions that can help reduce the amount of stress in your life, and how it can affect your skin.
Cut the processed foods
It’s no secret that bad food = bad skin. It’s important to realize that in order to look good on the outside, you’ve got to take care of your insides! That means ditching the processed foods and starting a new relationship with nutritious, body-enriching foods. Not only will your skin look healthier and brighter, you’ll feel more energized and ready to take on the world! Try starting yourself off with some fresh produce and healthy proteins like poultry and fish.
Sunshine!
Ever feel like you’re lagging after being indoors for so long? We do too! Healthy exposure to sunlight has been proven to help alleviate some of the stress we feel. The light provides our bodies with the vitamins they need and also boost our mood. Just make sure to use sunscreen and soak in the sun in doses as to prevent damage from harmful UV rays.
Catch up on your Z’s
It feels awful to wake up with little to no sleep and go about your day. You’re constantly fighting to stay awake and your skin just looks dull and tired. That’s why it is so important to get at least seven hours of sleep a night. When you have a healthy sleeping pattern, your energy skyrockets, your skin is noticeably brighter, and your stress levels are significantly reduced.
Exercise
Any type of exercise is a great stress reliever! Physical activity helps to boost blood circulation in the body. When blood flow increases, it leaves your complexion healthy and radiant. Exercise can also help remove the toxins from your body as sweat is secreted. And hey, while your skin is bright and stress-free, you’ll be looking as fit as ever!
Find Your Zen
A major factor that causes stress is the fact that we never take a second to slow down. Our lives are constantly at full speed. Without that pause, we’re just holding in everything that’s going on. Taking the time to relax, meditate, or even just take a deep breath can reduce so much built up stress. Practicing one of these techniques can help control the toll stress takes on the body, while also limiting the effects it may have on your skin.
