Importance of Exfoliation
Why Exfoliate?
Exfoliation is the removal of dead skin cells from the top layer of the skin. It is normal for your skin’s surface to dry up and shed, but this can cause it to look withered and rough. That’s why it’s important to scrub away the excess and allow your skin to breathe! There are a few different ways to exfoliate to keep skin looking fresh and young.
How to Exfoliate
The first step in learning how to exfoliate is deciding what works best for your skin type.
Normal:
Those with normal skin types have a balance between oily and dry skin. This means you’re able to use most exfoliators with little to no problem.
Recommended:
Bee Waxed Cosmetics Bee Scrubbed is a mildly foaming scrub that contains beads to gently remove dead skin and leave smooth, glowing skin behind.
Dry:
Those with dry skin typically lack the ability to maintain moisture and keep out free radicals. This can cause the skin to look and feel tight and be a bit dull. To balance out your skin, try exfoliating with products that slough away the dry skin, but also hydrate. Finely grained exfoliators with honey and coconut oil are great for this.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Exfoliating Cleanser removes dirt, oil, and dry skin while also increasing hydration.
Oily:
Oily skin is a result of excessive natural oil production. This can cause the skin to look shiny and makes pores more visible. There is also a higher risk of being acne-prone. If you have this skin type, a facial scrub may work best for you. They will help to keep your skin hydrated, while also working to clear breakouts and unclog pores.

Combination:
Combination skin is a mix between the different skin types. The most common are normal to dry and normal to oily. You can determine if you have combination skin by assessing the difference between your cheeks and T-zone (between the eyebrows and down the bridge of your nose). If you have normal to dry skin, you won’t have a problem trying out all types of exfoliation. Your skin is less prone to acne breakouts and is less sensitive than others.Recommended:
Mario Badescu Kiwi Face Scrub is a creamy exfoliator that contains AHA and kiwi seeds that will leave your skin feeling insanely smooth.
