Get Ready For Your Day On Zoom

Get ready for your day on Zoom!
Since the outbreak, a majority of our life has been flipped upside down. We went from every day human interaction to online everything in the snap of a finger. A few months into Zoom classes, meetings, interviews and more have taught us a trick or two on how to look our best on camera, even if it is just from the chest up! Here are our favorite ways to get ready for our day on Zoom.
Keep your morning routine
We know it can feel like your routine has been kicked aside sometimes. You tell yourself you can skip a shower since no one will smell you, or you can skip some necessary steps in your skincare routine because, well, you just won’t be going out so it must not matter.
We are telling you. It. Matters.
Keeping your routine will keep you stable, and you’ll look more put together during that first call of the day. Treat your work day as though you’re actually leaving for work. Wake up on time, finish your morning ritual, get dressed to feel more productive. Trust us, it makes a noticeable difference.
Protect your skin from blue light
We’ve all heard of the trend to wear blue light glasses. Maybe some of you even bought a pair or two. Good on you! As crazy as it sounds, blue light can do some serious damage to our skin if we’re exposed for too long. Which means the damage has most likely already begun considering the amount of time we’re all spending in front of our computers are phones.
Exposure to blue light can weaken the surface of your skin and its light can cause your skin to age slightly faster. So how do you prevent that from happening?
- Blue light shields are a great option to place on your phone and laptop screens to filter the light.
- Smartphones typically have an option to switch to “night mode”. This swaps out your brighter screen for a more yellow-toned hue. This can not only protect your skin, it can also protect your eyes and aid in better sleep.
- Speaking of eyes, we’ll say it again! Blue light glasses are a great option for keeping your eyes protected when staring at a screen all day.
- For even better protection, take good care of your skin with the ingredients that you're putting on your face. Stick to natural products when you can, add a little boost of antioxidants, and add some collagen cream to the mix to help prevent that photoaging.
Your eyes speak for themselves
Aside from protecting your eyes from blue light, they are also one of the few features noticed on camera. Those bags aren’t going to take care of themselves! Eye cream should become a necessary part of your skincare routine. Gently blend a bit under and around the eyes morning and night to help with dark circles and puffiness. Cold compresses for a minute or two in the mornings can also help swelling go down. When in doubt, a little bit of light concealer can always be your hero. Maybe add a swipe of lipstick on those lips, too!
Follow these tips and tricks and we know you’ll soon become a master of Zoom calls, too!
