Save Your Winter Skin
Posted on December 17, 2019
As the weather gets colder and winter starts to show its face, your skin can start to dry out and crack. It’s important to switch up your skincare routine as the weather changes. That will help to restore some of that hydration that the bitter cold drains out. Here’s a few tips on what to do about dry skin in the winter!
Moisturize! Winter means lower humidity in the air and cranking up the heat in the house. These factors lead the skin to start cracking, itching, or just feeling a bit rough. To combat that, try using a thicker moisturizer to have that extra burst of hydration. Grab yourself a bottle for home and a small travel size you can take with you whenever you start to feel a bit rough!

Use a humidifier. When the winter wicks all of the moisture out of the air, the most obvious places you may feel dryness are you lips, hands, and face. This is because they are the most exposed to the air. Using a humidifier can help that moisture return to the air and your skin.
Focus on your nighttime routine. The time you spend sleeping is the perfect opportunity to replenish the skin so that you can wake up hydrated and glowing in the morning. Eye creams can lock in the moisture in such a gentle area of the face, oil serums can restore some moisture, and lip masks can lock in all the hydration so that you can say goodbye to chapped, flaky lips!
Limit your showers. As great as a hot shower may feel after coming home from a bitter cold day, try to limit yourself to five to ten minutes under the warm -- not hot -- water. Also, try to avoid harsher, fragranced body washes that will just strip your skin. Don’t forget the moisturizer when you step out onto that bath mat!
The winter weather can be rough on everyone’s skin. A few adjustments to your everyday routine can help to minimize some of the harsh effects it may have. These quick and easy tips will have your skin thriving through the winter to lead you into the spring!
